Human history
av Trond Rasmussen

Once upon a time
way out - in the outskirts
of outer space
there was a little planet
it was full of grace.

Pre-historic man
did what he could
spread out across the land
like he didn’t know he should
he lived off the ground
ate what he found
the next day’s meal
still a mystery
this was the last time
in history
that man was focused
and he was free.

Because of dangers
‘cause of famines
‘cause of heat and cold
there were only simple pleasures
and no man was old
and each returning season
gave man a reason
to challenge the new
and his brains grew.

Before time was a concept
very gradually
safety in numbers
formed society
we used to be preoccupied with
our own century
now the decade results
are published quarterly.

Before there was religion
each had a sacred pigeon
in human superstition
rule those who have a vision
fear or joy
choose your decoy
we have evolved
why – unresolved.

Consumer’s choice
the public voice
currency as prodigy
globally heated ecomomy
finance as our president
is anarchy and lunacy
no question or doubt
we all need therapy.

Society needs pain
pain needs society
there can be no pain sobriety
but if focus is bliss
then remember this
to live like once upon a time
in an oxygen lung
when the air was clean
and the Earth was young.

The human race’s superiority
is way too big for any
decent dose of dignity
can we conceivably perceive
the gravity of grace ?
will it be lost without a trace ?
do we respect this rented place ?

Annihilation - bestiality - calamity
this seems to be our current ABC
how about another - better - course
admit regrets and some remorse
pay the fee for past profanity
and buy this supreme property
forget "try-before-you-buy"
and "time-to-think-it-over"
it's time to take responsibility
before "off-the-market” – “ad-expired".
